Welcome!
Welcome to senatorchukwumerije.net. Those who know Senator Uche Chukwumerije know that his hands-on approach to challenges has been his definitive style over the years. Whether as Biafra Director of Information and Propaganda during the civil war, as journalist with the Daily Times and Publisher of Afriscope magazine in the seventies; as Minister of Information in the nineties and now as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 2003, he has always broken new grounds in whatever he does.

THAT NIGERIA DISINTEGRATE NOT!
A few years ago, a United States official report predicted that Nigeria might disintegrate in 2015. That was before the elections of Presidents Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan. Today, there are ominous signs that 2015, a presidential election year, might be the most crisis-ridden year in Nigeria since the feverish events of June 12, 1993. Insecurity in Nigeria has become so prevalent that, on a daily basis, people are maimed and killed across the country by ubiquitous foot soldiers of various political, religious, and ethnic groupings. Nigeria's unity is sorely threatened today, but we can overcome our current challenges if the right measures are put in place. What do you think can be done to save Nigeria from disintegration and guarantee the security of lives and properties and the stability of our democratic project? A Public-Spirited Father

"If Nigerians must choose only a handful of legislators to symbolize their resistance to the repressive attempt by the Obasanjo administration to extend its misrule through the pseudo-constitutional manoeuvres sharply exposed as "Third Term" agenda, one man who by popular acclaim would be included in that hall of fame is Senator Uche Chukwumerije."

A Trail-Blazing Son

Sponsored largely by his father, the distinguished senator, Chika Chukwumerije won Nigeria's third medal at the Beijing Olympics. He defeated Akmal Irgashev of Uzbekistan to claim a bronze medal in Taekwondo, thus becoming the first black man to win an Olympic medal in martial arts. (Read more)
